Cherry and cherry veneers, aniline dyes; 93"l x 63"h x 65"w
Haynes and I were after a few things when we designed this bed: for one thing, he likes to read in bed, so it had to be comfortable to sit in. For another, he wanted simple lines and a masculine presence. We left the cherry its natural salmon color to keep the large shapes of the piece from becoming too oppressive; the dark moldings around the curly cherry panels pick up the deep color of the other furniture in the room. I’m told he sleeps very well in this bed, and when he wakes he looks out over the ocean of tree tops that is Central Park.
