Deep Sea Desk

Maple, cherry, acrylic paints, epoxy;
desk: 60"l x 30"w x 25" - 30"h; chairs: 18"w x 18"d x 25"h

When my Viennese ornithologist friend Mike had only two children (I think there’s five now), he wanted to commission a desk for them. We started with birds and ended with fish. Starfish twirl out of the fish tails to raise the desk height from 26" to 30". The chair seat spins like an old piano stool, varying the seat height between 13" and 18". The drawer pulls are little painted fish; the water lines on the desk top are routed, painted, and filled with epoxy. My customers are never timid about proposing fanciful designs.
